On the afternoon of April 8th, there will be a solar eclipse and parts of the Midwest will be along the path; including Michigan. This is an exciting phenomenon, but it does present a risk of eye injury to everyone, but especially children, who may not understand the dangers of looking directly at the sun at this time. We will not be going outside for afternoon recess on this day. There will also be permission slips coming home asking if your student can go outside for a teachable lesson, if their teacher has one planned. We will be providing special eclipse glasses to students PreK-8th grade to wear at dismissal time.
