Dear Parents,
The fifth grade team has put together some resources that we feel will help your child during the time that we are away from school. Below you will find suggestions, resources, and our contact information. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Reading
Read at home for 20-30 minutes each day and summarize what you read (tell who, what, where, when, why). They may choose to read their own books and/or use the resources below.
EPIC: Free online resource of books. (This works for free during school hours. If you want to be able to use it outside of school hours, send your email to your teacher and they can send you an invite, as EPIC has temporarily made it available in this way.) Otherwise, students go to https://www.getepic.com/students, log in with their class code, select their name, and they’re in!
Urka Class Code: zsl6099 (that’s an l, as in letter, not the number one)
Rybicki Class Code: cxt8661
Briske Class Code: ywy9477
Lundberg Class Code: gbb1779 (this time it’s a one)
https://mel.org/kids has online materials for kids to read.

Writing Practice
Scholastic story starters is a fun website where students can play a simple game to create a start to a story to finish any way they wish. There are different genres to choose from, such as sci-fi, fairytale, adventure; available here: http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/story-starters/
Keep a diary about your experience during this historical event.
Khan Academy
You can set up a free account at https://www.khanacademy.org/ . It has lessons with videos for all subject areas.
Typing Practice
Practice typing at home by using this free website: https://www.typingclub.com/
Paper Chain Reading Challenge
Every 30 minutes you read, add a link to a paper chain. Bring this chain to school when we return, to celebrate the time you spent reading!
Finally, we would like to strongly encourage you to sign up for the district app, as this will be the primary means of communication between Mason County Central and parents from this point forward.
Please feel free to contact your teacher with any questions you may have. Our contact information is found below. Stay safe and healthy!
