April 19, 2021 Dear School Community, As noted on our COVID-19 Dashboard, Monday, April 19, 2021 we learned about a School Associated Case of COVID-19 in another Middle School student. We are working closely with District Health Department #10 to identify Close Contacts of this School Associated Case. Dear MCC School Family, Today, the Governor and MDHHS encouraged High Schools to pause all face to face activities (including sports) for two weeks. Unlike the December mandatory shutdown of our High School, this was a recommendation. Since coming back from Spring Break we have seen 5 positive cases here at Mason County Central Schools with 2 of those cases happening in the High School. At this time, our number of cases do not justify the need to pause our face to face instruction and shutdown our athletics for 2 weeks. While that time may come if the circumstances change, we learned from the mandatory December shutdown that such a pivot to online instruction had a detrimental impact on many of our high school students' academic progress. We do not want to repeat such a mistake... and this time, it would be voluntary. So, we will continue to stay the course but ask that all of you double down on your efforts to monitor your family's health and do the morning health checks before coming to school. If a student has any of the symptoms: Fever, Sore Throat, Cough/Shortness of Breath, Diarrhea/Vomiting, or Headache - please stay home and get a COVID test. Coming to school could cause the illness to spread and/or require unnecessary quarantines for others. And in the meantime, Mason County Central Schools will continue to work hard on our end to provide a clean, healthy and safe learning environment. Stay Healthy and Strong Spartans!!

Dear MCC Parents and Students, Please be sure to do your daily health screenings prior to coming to school each day. As you are likely well aware, Mason County and the State of Michigan have become a hot zone for the spread of the highly contagious COVID variant. This new variant appears to be very contagious for student populations as compared to what we experienced with the COVID virus in the fall. A health screening each morning could prevent any further spread of the virus in addition to preventing mandatory quarantines of close contacts here at school or on our sports teams. Sports Updates The Wrestling meet this week is that was scheduled for Tuesday 3/16 has been switched to Wednesday 3/17 @ Shelby with a start time of 4 PM The Volleyball game scheduled for Tuesday 3/16 will be just for the 8th grade team. This game will start at 4 PM @ Montague. The 7th grade team will not travel to this game.

Dear MCC School Family, This morning we were made aware of a suspicious vehicle and interaction with one of our Upper Elementary Students while walking home from school yesterday, March 4th. We are working with local law enforcement to investigate this matter and are asking that you help us keep a watchful eye out for our community's children. It truly takes a village to raise our children and it is all of our responsibility to help keep them safe. If you should see any suspicious activity, do not hesitate to report it to law enforcement and/or the school. We will work together to check into it. Thank you for your help. Between the 7th and 8th grade game we will ask the 7th grade parents to leave the gym and allow the 8th grade parents to enter the gym.
