Books & apple

Dear MCC School Family,

Today each of the MCC buildings and grade levels loaded a bunch of grade appropriate learning resources for our students and parents to use during the shutdown.  I am truly proud of the work our teachers and principals put into this project.  And beyond these resources, they are willing to connect with parents and students by email.

I also want to take this opportunity to share with you that we just upgraded to a new MCC website. Check it out.  It went live last night.  All of the learning resources and information on the App also sync with the website and can be found in your child's building's News Feed. So if you prefer using your laptop, desktop or tablet... just go to the MCC website:  www.mccschools.org

[If you have trouble loading the new site, you likely will need to clear your cache in your browser settings.  Then it will load and be all set going forward.]

As you explore all of the new educational resources that we shared with you, you might feel a bit overwhelmed. Please don't be and I want to share with you a sense of caution when working with your children during this shutdown.  I recently came across this passage from an unknown author that sums up my thoughts very well.

"Don't worry about them regressing in school.  Every single kid is in this boat and they all will be ok.  When we are back in the classroom, we will all course correct and meet them where they are. Teachers are experts at this!  Don't pick fights with your kids because they don't want to do math.  Don't scream at your kids for not following the schedule. Don't mandate 2 hours of learning time if they are resisting it.

If I can leave you with one thing, it's this: at the end of all of this, your kids' mental health will be more important than their academic skills.  And how they felt during this time will stay with them long after the memory of what they did during those 4 or more weeks is long gone.  So keep that in mind, every single day."

Have fun checking out these great learning resources together and if you need some help, reach out to your child's teacher.  As each of the school principals shared in their posts... We really miss our students and deeply care for their good health during these remarkable times.

My warmest regards,

Jeff Mount
