Mason County Central High School

MCC Family,
We have entered November and are nearing the end of our first trimester. Teachers, students and support staff have been working hard all trimester long. As you read this letter we are finishing week nine and have only three weeks left before the trimester ends. As final exam week approaches, we will post the exam schedule on the MCC app and our social media so that parents are aware of exam days and times. The student will see this schedule in school within the next week and a half.
The high school students have just completed Xello Week. Xello is a web-based program that helps students with career exploration based on their interests and also builds job preparation materials. Students must complete this not only for the State of Michigan but also for our PBIS reward of long lunch Friday.
Speaking of long-lunch Friday, our students were polled to see what kind of reward they would like for our second “Showing up is Job #1” attendance reward. The majority chose a long lunch Thursday. So, all students who will qualify for the reward of Long-Lunch Thursday will get the reward next week. Remember that showing up is job #1 is school, work, and life!
As we prepare for a playoff football game, one reflection that I have had is how all of our students support each other no matter what their interests or activity choices are. This school is no different than any other. Sometimes students misbehave. Sometimes there are academic struggles and attendance issues. We strive to be better in all of those areas. But, the one thing Mason County Central has always done is accept and support each other whether it is athletics, arts, music, robotics, forensics, or esports. Spartans are Spartans and it's always been that way. It makes our school a great place to be.
