Dear Parents:

It's hard to believe but it's that time of the year again - the beginning of a new school year. Welcome back! And while you aren't part of the teaching staff you are just as important to your children's education as we are. Your children receive the best education when you and our dedicated teachers work as a team. It's a parents enthusiasm, support and involvement that inspires children to do their best; and a teacher's ability to teach what they need to learn. Together we can achieve wonderful things. There's a lot of excitement ahead of us, including new teachers to meet, new books to read, new friends to meet and new skills to master...and I look forward to you sharing in those exciting times. As a parent myself I’m amazed at how fast time goes by. It seems as if we were just holding them in our arms as infants and before we know it they are starting school and growing up quickly! We have finished the scheduling process and I believe we have created well-balanced classrooms in order to maximize learning for your child(ren).

Your family will have an opportunity to meet the teacher(s) at our scheduled back-to-school night. Scottville Elementary Back-to-School Night is Tuesday, August 29th from 6:00pm-7:00pm for first graders and second-grade students. I have enclosed a list of important dates for you to refer to throughout the school year. Kindergarten students will receive a letter from their teachers regarding their first days of school.

In closing, I encourage you to fully embrace the moment and urge you to take the time to become familiar with our school, as well as create a homework-friendly home environment that will allow your child(ren) to excel. We look forward to partnering with you! Thank you for your commitment to your child's education and I look forward to seeing you in the very near future.

Sincerely, Chris Etchison, Principal

PTC News - Please Join Us!

The Parent Teacher Committee holds a meeting every third Thursday of the month.  We are starting to discuss ideas for the next Walk Run 4 Fun, and we are looking for new ideas for incentive prizes.

At our last meeting, several long-time board members confirmed that they will be cycling off in the next year or so as their children move on to middle school. If you’ve been interested in the PTC but just haven’t gotten involved before, now is an excellent opportunity!  We would like to be able to vote the new members in by the end of the school year so that we can help and guide them through the process! Without willing people to take this on, there will be no PTC in the future which in turn means no funding for field trips, playground improvements, holiday shop and other educational opportunities for our MCC students. This is why it is important for us as parents to get involved! So please come see us at our next meeting and if you can't attend you can look us up on Facebook.

We are collecting box tops for our spring submission! We will have a traveling trophy for the class who collects the most in each grade- everyone likes bragging rights so keep collecting!
