A message from Mr. Etchison...
The month of March brings many fun activities and opportunities for our families. On Saturday, March 3rd, our community will come together for the annual Spring CommUnity Auction. This event raises money that’s split between the chamber and the MCC Education Foundation. The foundation offers mini-grants teachers can apply for to enhance instruction in the classroom. On behalf of the students and staff, I would like to thank those that have donated items, money or are able to attend and show their support for this premier event held annually in Scottville.
During March, we celebrate “March is Reading Month”. Mrs. Kratz put together a calendar of events for the month to encourage reading at school and home. Each year, we see lots of excitement as the children build upon their reading skills while having fun doing so. Mrs. Peterson will hold our annual Book Fair, with a “Paws for Reading” reading theme this year. The Book Fair will be open the week of Parent-Teacher Conferences. When books are purchased, Mrs. Peterson earns money for our library to keep it updated with the books our children love to read. If you’re looking for some great books for your children, please stop in and check it out.
Our spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on March 13th and 15th. This time spent looking at your child’s progress is incredibly important and we appreciate your support. The partnership between home and school is the key to your child’s academic success and helps maximize their potential throughout their educational experience at Mason County Central.
On March 16th, we’ll be holding our second annual Daddy-Daughter Dance from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Upper Elementary. Last year was a huge success with over 175 children attending with someone special to them. We sent home a flyer a couple weeks ago with more information. If you haven’t seen one, but are interested in attending, please stop in the office to grab a copy. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. We hope to see many of you there again this year.
On March 17th, we’ll be setting up a booth at Family AfFAIR. We’ll be sending home a coupon for Scottville Elementary students to bring to the event good for a free book. Please bring your coupon with you. We’ll also have school supplies to give away. This is a great family event hosted by MCC, we hope to see everyone there.
On March 22nd, we’ll be heading over to the Upper Elementary for the annual “sliming”. Children that raised at least $50 for the American Heart Foundation’s “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser will be able to dump slime on me at an assembly at the Upper Elementary.
Spring break is quickly approaching and many of our families choose to take vacations. It’s our hope that everyone is able to take a little time to relax and enjoy time together. If you’re planning on heading south, please bring the spring weather back with you!
